Investigating the Teachers’ Perceptions of the Effectiveness of Project Based Learning Practices on Enhancing Motivation and Engagement and the Challenges They Face in Its Implementation in a Private School in U.A.E.
Abstract
In recent years, countries worldwide have been taking broad steps to lead educational reforms in their educational systems. These reforms aim to prepare learners for employment. Due to that, educators shifted their attention towards adopting the PBL. Consequently, this study aimed to have a comprehension of the practices, which would enhance the students’ motivation in the U.A.E. To do that, the study employed the use of the social constructivism paradigm supported by the qualitative method using descriptive phenomenology in which five semi-structured interviews were analyzed thematically. As the teachers demonstrated their PBL practices, they provided novel insights into enhancing the learners’ motivation by presenting a wide range of motivating strategies that teachers can use, referring to the PBL features and the use of technology.
